High School
In the High School, students at all year levels attend camp for five days. The aim is to take students out of their normal comfort zone and make them more responsible for their lives. Supervised by teachers, students must rely on one another. They are also continually challenged by activities and learning opportunities that cannot be achieved inside the walls of a classroom.
The various camps are progressively challenging from 7- 12. All safety precautions are taken including teacher to student ratios of 1:10 to ensure campers return healthy and have a wonderful experience.
In 2009-10, students enjoyed these experiences:
At P-WEC Training Centre in Batu, Year 7 students did many activities to challenge themselves physically and emotionally such as Jungle Zone Introduction, trekking, team building activities, river ecosystems (Science), Humanities, Maths, Language, treasure hunt, outbound (high ropes and educational games), and community service.
Cuban Rondo Batu Malang was an excellent place for the Year 8 camp. Not only did students visit the waterfalls, they also enjoyed outbound, farming, rafting, trekking, milking cows, apple harvesting, theatre sports, night trek, camp fire, barbeque, presentation and community service.
Year 9 got involved in all kinds of activities at Selorejo: touring the Selorejo area, rafting to Kaliwatu, trekking, outbound, and flying fox. Camp creativity around the camp fire and community service in local schools were also popular activities for the students.
The camp at Papuma, Probolinggo challenged the Year 10 students. Their activities included trekking, snorkeling, fishing, rappelling and awareness of the local seaside village. Students also developed confidence, communication and team work skills in the outbound activities provided by highly experienced instructors. Students also did community service activities in the local area.
Year 11 stayed at a camp in Taman Nasional Baluran. Their activities included trekking, wildlife observation, canoeing, snorkeling, fishing, kite flying, paint ball, and community service. Around the campsite students participated in art and drama competitions. A fish barbeque on the beach was also a highlight.
Even though Bali is regarded as an island paradise, it gave Year 12 students many challenging experiences. Activities included white water rafting (Telaga Waja River), trekking in Ubud, cycling, appreciating Balinese arts and culture, a treasure hunt and surfing, as well as community service in local schools.
